The Aberturret Gin

Libators and imbibers go back to the roaring twenties

Scotland’s Oldest working distillery, The Glenturret, is entering a new chapter in its 261 years of history by welcoming a new member to the family, The Aberturret Gin. The gin is named after Aberturret House, formerly the Dower House of the Murray Clan, founder of The Glenturret.

This unique London Dry Gin contains carefully selected botanicals, including two local favourites in the Crieff area of Perthshire – chamomile and sumac – alongside coriander, angelica, cloves, lemon, lime, cinnamon, grapefruit, liquorice root, pine, juniper, and pink peppercorn. The small-batch gin is further enhanced in richness and complexity by The Glenturret New Make Single Malt Spirit from the celebrated Glenturret Distillery.

At 45 per cent ABV, it’s perfectly suited for a signature gin cocktail, especially a martini. The Aberturret is linked to this long distilling heritage and prowess of The Glenturret, however, this new gin is also modern and innovative at the same time.

For the perfect martini, mix in a pre-chilled shaker, four parts of The Aberturret gin with one of cold dry vermouth. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled glass and add two skewered olives.

The distillery is owned by the Lalique Group and The Aberturret is a nod to Lalique’s celebrated Art Deco creations from the roaring 1920s, a time when gin was one of the most popular spirits. The seductive glassware bottle designed by Lalique is both decorative and sophisticated; in a deep green colour that showcases the stunning Highland scenery around the distillery, as well as the green of the Clan Murray Tartan.

The Aberturret Gin is available online at www.theaberturretgin.com  RRP £45.00.
