TIME WITH DAD

The heart of a father is the masterpiece of nature

The time we spend with our fathers is precious. Dads have a unique role in parenting their children. Their love transforms them into heroes, adventurers, teachers, and a source of lifelong inspiration. As a symbol of the value of time with our fathers, here we have selected four watches that may inspire you to share some more adventures with your dad.

Tissot PRX Automatic Gold: The introduction of the Tissot PRX last year was a remarkable success for the brand. Now, the line has been extended with several new models, among them two 40mm versions, both featuring satin-finished steel cases and 18K solid rose gold fluted bezels with a blue or brown dial, both with a satin sunray finish. The hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® for perfect visibility regardless of the light conditions. The integrated satin-finish steel bracelet has a single link with an interchangeable system triple-blade folding steel clasp with two push buttons. The watch looks elegant and sporty, as ideal for a day out in town with your dad as it is for a day of sport.

The retro aesthetic of the new Tissot PRX Gold gives it an elegant, and at the same time sporty look, that works with any attire.

The pair are powered by the high-performance Powermatic 80 movement, which combines an anti-magnetic NivachronTM hairspring with 80 hours of power reserve. £1,600. Buy HERE.

Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman Automatic: This new Frogman comes from a long dynasty of technically capable, maritime-ready watches originally made by American manufacturer Hamilton for the U.S. Navy “frogmen” in WWII. Engineered for accuracy, legibility and endurance, its new design comes with a massive 46mm case to keep the winding crown completely safe and a waved strap, a wink to the power of the sea. The black, clear-cut dial is enhanced with Super-LumiNova® for excellent legibility even in the poorest light, accentuated by orange highlights for the minute hand and tip of the seconds.

The Khaki Navy Frogman Automatic is Hamilton’s most technically capable maritime-ready watch.

Cased in stainless steel and water resistant to 300m, the Frogman is available with a new wave-look tactical rubber strap in khaki or black, or on a traditional bracelet. In addition, a version with its case coated in black PVD, with grey bezel and dial markings, offers a stealthier, ultra-modern “bad-ass” look, super cool for a matching father-and-son timepiece.

The watch is powered by Hamilton’s H-10 automatic movement with an extended power reserve of 80 hours and enhanced performance with a balance spring made from Nivachron™. A cutting-edge alloy, its resistance to shocks, temperature variations and magnetic fields adds crucial utility to a watch built for harsh environments. From £1,035. Buy HERE.

Vertex M60C AquaLion Date Edition: Another brand with military pedigree is Vertex. One of the original “dirty dozen” commissioned by the Ministry of Defence to make watches for military use. Ever since the great-grandson of the founder, Don Cochrane, resurrected the company, the brand has gone from strength to strength, bringing to market increasingly desirable watches with a growing fan base of collectors and celebrities alike.

Based on the Vertex dive watches of the 1950s and ‘60s, the Aqualion Date Edition represents the best of today’s technology with a timeless aesthetic.

The latest to join such an illustrious family is the M60C Aqualion, engineered to meet and exceed the requirements of a subaquatic marine environment. Built to ISO 6425 regulations, COSC-certified and water-resistant to 600m, it is the perfect choice for those who require a reliable and accurate dive watch. Its 40mm case is framed by a unidirectional rotating bezel in ensuring safety and ease of use in matte ceramic, while the dial in matte black showcases molded Super-LumiNova® X1 grade coated hands and markers provide excellent legibility in all conditions. The Aqualion comes with a DLC stainless steel bracelet, single-strand Zulu strap and rubber dive strap. Like all Vertex pieces, you’ll receive it in a multi-purpose waterproof, buoyant Peli Case ‘Ruck’. The purity of purpose evident in every aspect of its design makes the M60C AquaLion the perfect partner for your next underwater adventure with your dad. £2,940. Buy HERE.

Rado Captain Cook Chronograph: Available in three different variants, with distinct shades and strap/bracelet configurations using the EasyClip system, the new Captain Cook Chronograph keeps in line with former models in many aspects of its form, such as the date display, in the classic red against silver. At its heart we find the new, thinner R801 automatic movement with 37 jewels, five hands and 59 hours of power reserve. The NivachronTM anti-magnetic hairspring ensures exceeding standard accuracy test requirements by as much as five positions.

Rado Captain Cook Chronograph in steel with black dial (£3,440), bronze with blue dial and NATO-style strap with gold stripe (£4,090) and bronze with blue dial and leather strap (£3,440).

All models come with different straps in sporty NATO-style (blue or black) and leather (blue or brown) with pin-buckle closure, and the stainless-steel versions also come with a matching stainless-steel bracelet with brushed central links and extensible folding clasp. The watch comes presented in a special case inspired by the strapped treasure chests of ancient explorers and navigators. Protected by a tough, black diver-nylon outer covering, the wooden (FSC) box is equipped with metal hardware, around a soft ivory- coloured interior where watch and spare straps can be safely stored. From £3,440 to £4,090. Buy HERE.
