The ME Ibiza truly takes luxury hospitality to a whole new level. Located in a secluded, yet easily accessible bay with direct access for yachts, the ME Ibiza is the only modern luxury hotel in Ibiza to be a member of the Leading Hotels of the World.
It was yet another rainy spring morning in London. Steal grey sky and thin, needle-like rain. Biggin Hill Airport held the key to our weekend gateway to the most famous island in Europe. We left organisation in the hands of the team at ME. My dark mood suddenly changed when I saw our ride to Ibiza: a shiny Cessna Citation CJ1, which flew just us to our destination. Escorted by the hotel Aura Manager, Alvaro Plaza, we boarded the plane and were immediately offered our favourite drinks: Dom Pérignon Rosé for me and Botanist G&T for my other half, accompanied by a tray of the highest quality ibéricos.
At Ibiza airport, we were picked up by Dani, one of ME’s very own drivers. He arrive in
a state of the art white Range Rover, complete with a bottle of champagne to keep us entertained in case we encountered traffic on our way to the hotel. Alvaro, our Aura Manager, took care of all the check-in process, while we were taken to the ME suite and offered a divine cocktail, which we drank by our own private pool. At 6pm we went to the roof terrace, to enjoy the fabulous views of the island from a Balinese bed, with a selection of oysters and some beautiful bubbly. In order to get our bodies in tune with the spirit of the island, we had a private yoga lesson at sunset, in front of the sea. I can’t recommend it enough.
For dinner we chose the Salt & Sea restaurant at our hotel. The menu is fresh and vibrant, perfect for a warm evening. My tuna tartar with marinated watermelon was a true explosion of flavour and my husband’s lobster cooked in coconut water was really unlike anything we had tried before. A bottle of very cold Chivite was the perfect complement to these divine dishes. We chose to have an early night as the next day promised to be fabulous. At 10am we were picked up by one of the ME signature white Range Rovers and whisked to the Port of Santa Eulària. Alvaro took us to the ME Riva boat (one of only two of such boats), which transported us to Formentera, where we were to spend the day. First we dropped anchor at the gorgeous Cala Saona for a swim, and later at Es Calo, for a relaxing lunch on board, all courtesy of the ME exquisite catering service. Before leaving Formentera, we had a last dip at Illetes beach, with its crystal clear turquoise waters which in my opinion, can rival the Caribbean for beauty and tranquility.
