Two decades of Hublot’s Big Bang

An anniversary extravaganza

In 2005, with Jean-Claude Biver at the helm, Hublot launched the model that would put the company firmly on the map of luxury watchmaking: the Big Bang. In that same year, the watch won the design prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. Since then, the Big Bang collection has accounted for around 40 percent of Hublot’s sales.

“The Hublot Big Bang is undoubtedly a modern icon,” says CEO Julien Tornare. “As we celebrate 20 years, we honour its past while looking ahead to the next two decades of groundbreaking innovation.”

To mark the occasion, Hublot has gone all guns blazing and is releasing several anniversary collections within the Big Bang range that prove the technical prowess of the brand and its continued appetite for innovation. The first one is the Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary Collection.

Playing tribute to the company’s motto “The Art of Fusion”, Hublot is bringing together past and future with five limited-edition models based on the original 2005 Big Bang, to which they have applied the latest advancements in watchmaking technology.

Each anniversary edition revisits the Big Bang’s signature elements: a multi-layered case with pinched lugs, a knurled bezel, and an engraved carbon-fibre-inspired dial. The bold Arabic numerals and indexes are now enhanced with Super-LumiNova. The layout stays true to the Big Bang DNA– small seconds at 3 o’clock, a chronograph minute counter at 9 o’clock – powered by the Unico automatic manufacture chronograph movement. A commemorative gold rotor and a structured rubber strap with a lozenge pattern complete the tribute, alongside Hublot’s easy One Click system for strap changes.

HUBLOT BIG BAG TITANIUM CLASSIC AND BIG BANG KING GOLD CERAMIC

The Hublot Big Bang Titanium Ceramic (500 pieces) and Big Bang King Gold Ceramic (250 pieces) echo the material fusion pioneered by the original Big Bang, which blended steel or gold with rubber, ceramic, and carbon fibre.

Both are housed in a 43mm case with slightly curved lugs and a polished bezel featuring the signature knurled edge. Rectangular pushers with rubber inserts and a carbon-patterned dial enhance the vintage appeal, while the Unico movement ensures cutting-edge performance.

HUBLOT BIG BANG RED MAGIC

Made of a new striking red ceramic, the Hublot Big Bang Red Magic (100 pieces) is the latest example of Hublot’s mastery in materials.

Achieving a vibrant red in ceramic is not an easy task, as many red pigments are chemically unstable and prone to burning. Complementing the red, the watch features a carbon-patterned dial.

HUBLOT BIG BANG ALL BLACK

Another novelty introduced in celebration of the Big Bang’s 20th anniversary is a new Hublot Big Bang All Black. When it was first introduced in 2006, the All Black revolutionized watch design with its philosophy of “invisible visibility.”

This new version – limited to 500 pieces – comes in a 43mm black ceramic case and a carbon-patterned dial, a first for the All Black series.

HUBLOT BIG BANG MAGIC GOLD

The model that completes the anniversary collection is the Hublot Big Bang Magic Gold. The world’s only scratch-resistant 18kt gold alloy merges the resilience of ceramic with the brilliance of the precious metal. It was developed in-house and first introduced in 2011, embodying Hublot’s relentless pursuit of innovation.

The anniversary edition (100 pieces) showcases this groundbreaking material alongside a carbon-patterned dial, gilt hands and markers, creating a striking contrast of textures and tones.

From titanium to Magic Gold, the Big Bang has consistently redefined watchmaking. With these anniversary editions, Hublot cements its place at the forefront of horology, where past, present and future converge in a singular moment of brilliance.
