In the three years Genesis motor has been operating in Europe, the company has certainly made a name for itself in the luxury automotive sector with a variety of striking SUVs, elegant saloons and versatile crossovers. It is in this bracket that the Genesis GV60 Sport Plus sits, providing an electrified solution for those who drive in the city but also want a capable vehicle in the country.
Of course, first thing that comes to mind when talking about electric cars is “range”. I drove it hard and in extremely cold weather in the north of England and it still gave me 250miles. More than enough to squirrel around town, daily commuting and long-distance trips. On a proper fast charge, the car can go up to 80 per cent in 20 minutes. That is just a quick pitstop on the road.
So, once we have that elephant out of the room, let’s talk about the other attributes of this gorgeous luxury crossover car, created to capture the imagination of the eco and design-conscious consumer.
The Genesis GV60 Sport Plus features distinctive design elements such as the bold rear fender and sporty spoiler, 21-inch alloy wheels and streamlined LED headlights.
The design of the Genesis GV60 Sport Plus is unmistakably modern. Its sleek, aerodynamic silhouette is complemented by distinctive design elements, including flush door handles, a bold front grille, sharp LED headlights, 21-inch alloy wheels with a technical-spoke design and an avant garde rear profile. Still, the whole effect is elegant and discreet. This car whispers – rather than screams – luxury.
Inside, the cabin is also quietly luxurious, with a lot of space. Premium materials, high-end finishes, heated seats, and a tech-loaded dashboard really easy to use. The centre console features a crystal-like ball that flips to reveal the gear selector, adding a touch of fashion to the set. The panoramic roof and large windows enhance the feeling of openness.
When talking about the GV60 Sport Plus we need to talk about performance. Powered by dual electric motors, it generates 429 horsepower with the ability to boost to 483 horsepower for short bursts of power through its “Boost Mode.” Press the button and you’ll go from zero to 60mph in four seconds. Hold on to your lashes, girls!

Driving this smart crossover is a smooth experience, thanks to its all-wheel-drive system and adaptive suspension. But smooth doesn’t mean boring. The GV60 Sport Plus is very dynamic and handles better than you’d expect in a car much closer to a SUV than to a sports model. Quick and responsive, it grips the road with gusto and makes even tight corners in country roads feel easy and comfortable. So much so, that your passengers could be doing their nails and no varnish would spill over.
Which brings me to the subject of storage. Fear not. This Genesis car has spaces tucked away everywhere to store anything you may need, from mascara and sunglasses to wipes, kids’ snacks or a pair of extra shoes.
In terms of technology, the GV60 Sport Plus doesn’t disappoint. The infotainment system is intuitive – meaning you don’t need a PhD to understand how to work it out – anchored by a large 12.3-inch touchscreen that integrates with a 12.3-inch digital driver display. It supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Advanced driver-assistance features include heads-up display, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking. It doesn’t get any safer or easier than that, does it?
Overall, the Genesis GV60 Sport Plus is a true testament to Genesis’ commitment to crafting premium electric cars, setting a high bar for both its competitors and the future of electric luxury light SUVs.
