Celebrating our blue-green bauble home on Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, we feel it is appropriate to bring you the recently released MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase, a first in terms of our planet’s appearance from space featuring as a complication in a wristwatch. It celebrates the first time that human eyes saw our planet rising on the horizon, a photograph taken by Bill Anders aboard the Apollo 8 on Christmas Eve 1968.

Without a doubt, the Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch collaboration has been one of the noted new watch series in the 2020s. It cleverly uses the design codes of Omega’s iconic Speedmaster, the first watch on the Moon, with an innovative bioceramic material in an array of colours that incorporate space mission themes. It started with a collection including our satellite, all planets – including Earth – and the Sun in March 2022. They were an immediate success.

Similar in design and colouring to the Speedmasters worn by astronauts, the Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase on its Velcro strap.

New iterations were released in 2023 and 2024, but this year, when it came to our planet, the creatives at the Swatch…

Raging against the dying V10 light

The new Lamborghini Temerario – named after a Spanish bull that fought in the arena of Madrid in 1875 – is a crucial model for Lamborghini, designed to take over the super sports car baton from the Huracán. The Huracán is nearing the end of production with a full order book. Nearly 30,000 units of the […]

A new dawn

In the last four weeks, between the multimedia campaign, the new logo and the partial reveal of the Type 00, Jaguar has probably been in the news more often than in the last four years put together. The dramatic change of direction taken by the brand has divided opinion not just in the UK, but […]

How to treat dad without breaking the bank

Fathers are men who dared to place the world’s hopes and dreams in their children. As such they guide us and help us shape our personality and attitude in the world.  I remember fondly how Scout refers to his father Atticus in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, “It was times like these when I […]

Coloured dials and credentials

Green, not just as the colour but as a symbol of sustainability, has been fully embraced by luxury watch brands if the recent Watches & Wonders novelties are anything to guide us by. It may be that Covid-19 has taught us to slow down and appreciate the wonders of nature, it may be pure and […]

Perpetual calendars have become increasingly popular as a complication over the last few years. Part of the reason for that is the ability to solve the complex problems that the Gregorian calendar presents with innovative mechanisms, specifically, the number of days a week, weeks per year and irregular days per month. To put it another […]

This year’s chronographs

Most brands have a chronograph watch in their line-up. It is the single best-selling complication on the market. A “go-to” watch that, if executed well, has a good chance to become popular with collectors. Consequently, the list of them available is extensive and the range runs from the functional and austere to the opulent and […]

Watches & Wonders 2021 have delighted us with a wide variety of stunning jewelled watches that show brands pushing their skills and expertise in both, horology and gem-setting. It is a joy to see the optimism and talent that these pieces reveal. After over a year of darkness, it is time to shine! Patek Philippe […]

For unforgettable journeys

Bentley created the modern luxury Grand Tourer segment in 2003. Now in its third generation, the Continental GT is the most agile ever. As a lover of cabriolets, I couldn’t resist to take their Convertible V8 for a spin. The Dragon Red II paintwork contrasts with the dark grey metallic hood complemented by 22” five […]

It all started with a road race. The “Carrera Panamericana” was inaugurated in 1950 by the Mexican government and was scheduled as a six-day border-to-border dash to celebrate the completion of Mexico’s portion of the Panamerican Highway. It was considered the most dangerous and exotic race in the world attracting the very best drivers and […]

ARTURA, the first mainstream hybrid by McLaren.

You’re looking at the new era of the supercar. At first glance, the McLaren Artura doesn’t look all that different from the rest of the range. Its cab-forward, low-nose, mid-engine shape and dihedral doors are more science-fiction than most four-wheeled status symbols, but these are design tropes McLaren has gently evolved across ten models in […]

An Innovative Addition to the Chronograph Market

At first glance, the new Zenith Chronomaster might look like other watches in the market with the same complication, however, despite some aesthetic similarities, there are a number of notable differences that distinguish it as innovative and desirable in its own right. In terms of case and dial design, the new chronograph bares a strong […]
