Roka Mallorca

Cap Vermell seduces the Japanese culinary legend

The internationally renowned restaurant ROKA, famous for cooking by following the ancient robatayaki technique, has taken their contemporary Asian gourmet delights to the Balearic island of Mallorca this summer with a pop-up restaurant at Cap Vermell Resort.

Cap Vermell is a luxury retreat Canyamel, on the Eastern part of Mallorca, with an architecture that reflects the style of a traditional Mallorquin hilltop village with references to local art and cultural heritage. Situated in a tranquil valley surrounded by natural beauty, the resort offers a place of escapism creating unique and mindful experiences for all guests.  Part of the unique appeal of Cap Vermell is the culinary experiences they offer, which this summer are amplified by hosting ROKA. This is quite a coup since there are only five ROKA restaurants in the world, four in London and one in Dubai.

ROKA’s dining room is set al fresco, next to the robata, a type of charcoal-grilled used in Japanese cooking. Robata is different to other Japanese charcoal cooking in that it uses a wide, flat open fireplace in the style of an irori (a sunken hearth), rather than a shichirin (mobile cooking stove) or another type of charcoal cooking. With all food prepared in front of the guests, ROKA is bringing their award-winning Japanese cuisine combining seasonal local produce with ingredients native to the Far East.

ROKA combines the best seasonal local produce with ingredients native to the Far East.

Kankokufu kohitsuji, lamb cutlets with Korean spices and cucumber with sesame, kampachi sashimi and yellow-fin sashimi with yuzu and truffle dressing are some of the highlights in the menu that ROKA Mallorca is offering this summer. All of it accompanied by the best local and national wines as well as ROKA-exclusive cocktails, such as “ichico kub”, a favourite in ROKA London.

Kankokufu kohitsuji, lamb cutlets with Korean spices and cucumber with sesame is one of ROKA’s star dishes.

The bar and DJ booth are also outdoors, bringing new energy to this terrace, one of the most impressive in the resort with views of both the sea (sometimes you can even see the neighbouring island of Menorca) and the mountains, to ensure unforgettable evenings in this, one of Mallorca’s most magical enclaves. In the words of Csaba Boda, director of the resort, “ROKA Mallorca is an authentic multisensorial experience where taste, smell, sight and hearing are elevated to new heights to offer Japanese cuisine in the idyllic surroundings of the valley of Canyamel.”
