DOMAINE FAIVELELY MERCUREY CLOS ROCHETTE 2022

With white Burgundy getting ever more difficult to get hold of (and ever more expensive when you do!) the savvy buyer is looking towards the lesser known villages, particularly in the Côte Chalonnaise, a subregion of Burgundy just to the South of the more famous Côte d’Or. This fabulous example comes from 7th generation family owned Domaines Faivelely who deftly create a wine of complex refinement and effortless elegance. A wine made to impress that never disappoints. £39.95 from Secret Bottle Shop and other fine wine merchants.

LÉOUBE SECRET ROSÉ

Subtly pale and strikingly poised, this award-winning rosé from Château Léoube is a masterclass in Provençal elegance. Its delicate bouquet hints at summer berries and exotic citrus, unfolding into a silky texture and a warm, lingering finish. Dry yet expressive, it balances finesse with character – making it as memorable on the palate as it is in the glass. A whisper of spice adds depth to its crisp citrus-driven profile, while its mineral backbone speaks to its coastal terroir.

An impeccable match for Mediterranean fare, refined Asian cuisine or tender white meats – this is a rosé destined for fine tables and special moments. £33 from daylesford.com and other retailers.

CHÂTEAU LE PEZ 2019 SAINT STÈPHE

This has to be one of Bordeaux’s best-kept secrets—a small estate in Saint-Estèphe producing refined, structured, elegant and complex claret. The magic ingredient? The winemaker is the world-famous Nicolas Glumineau, of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, who also brings his finesse to this lesser-known label. Aged in 40 percent new oak, it’s rich in black fruit, subtle spice and finely judged tannins. A serious wine, with impressive polish for the price. £44.95 from ND John and other merchants.

HAZENDAL 2017 CAP CLASIQUE ATHI-PATRA RUGA

If Dad’s been particularly well-behaved this year, he might just deserve this exceptional bottle of bubbles. A striking collaboration with South African artist Athi-Patra Ruga, who designed its vibrant label. This zero-dosage sparkling wine, a blend of Chardonnay and 38 percent Pinot Noir, spent seven years on lees, resulting in a bone-dry profile with remarkable complexity. Expect an intense nose of lemon blossom, lime, and caramelised ginger, leading to flavours of buttered biscuit, red apple, and plum skin. The palate is fresh and focused, tapering to a precise finish with echoes of clementine and citrus fruit. Disgorged in 2024, it’s poised to age gracefully for years to come. Limited to just 1,500 bottles, this is a true collector’s item. £350 from Hazendal.

VIN DE CONSTANCE 2010

To mark its 340th anniversary, Klein Constantia releases the ultra-rare Vin de Constance 2010—aged 15 years and drawn from just seven barrels. This opulent vintage reimagines the legendary sweet wine once favoured by Napoleon, Baudelaire, and Mandela. Crafted from 100 percent Muscat de Frontignan grapes, it offers a vibrant golden hue and an aromatic profile of apricot, honeycomb, and citrus blossom. On the palate, it’s full-bodied and elegant, with rich, creamy textures balanced by refreshing acidity, culminating in a long, zesty finish.

The estate’s unique terroir—granite soils and cool ocean breezes—contributes to the wine’s depth and complexity. Each bottle is a testament to Klein Constantia’s commitment to heritage and craftsmanship, making it a collector’s gem and a true celebration of South Africa’s vinous legacy. Only a tiny quantity is available, so highly collectable. £140 from Justerini & Brooks and other fine wine merchants.

BELUGA GOLD LINE VODKA

Beluga Gold Line is a beautifully crafted spirit, distilled from 100 percent winter wheat and pristine artesian spring water, then rested for 90 days for exceptional smoothness. Triple-distilled and filtered six times – including through quartz sand and silver-enriched charcoal – it offers rare purity and a creamy, velvety texture.

Each bottle is hand-sealed in wax, individually numbered, and comes with a bespoke hammer and brush for an opening ritual that adds theatre and significance. The hand-attached pewter sturgeon emblem underscores its artisanal pedigree. Delicate notes of vanilla, white pepper and sage unfold on the palate, with a long, clean finish. Ideal for discerning dads who value heritage, detail and distinction. £125 from Amathus Drinks, Hedonism wines and other fine wine merchants.
