Flower Power Jewellery

The arrival of spring

On the first day of spring, we want to say good-bye to neutral and welcome the explosion of colour that comes with the new season. From trees and shrubs to modest wild flowers, this is the time of the pink blooms. Anemones, rubellas, pieris passion, magnolias and cherry trees among many others blossom at this time, covering meadows, gardens and even modest windowsills with a kaleidoscope of pinks and reds.

Many jewellery houses find inspiration in nature for their collections, especially as we move into the warmer months of the year. Our colleague Maria Doulton shares her choice of gemstone blossoms for spring.

GUCCI ALLEGORIA EARRINGS

Gucci has been raising the bar with each high jewellery collection since unveiling the first of its one-of-a-kind creations in 2019. Though a relatively new player at the top end of the market, Gucci has forged a style that links to the house’s Florentine roots with abundant use of colours, romantic eclecticism and a painterly approach.

The Allegoria earrings feature pink tourmalines surrounded by gold petals set with diamonds. Pretty with a quirky twist, these earrings embody the joie de vivre of spring.

VAN CLEEF & ARPELS ROSE DE NOËL CLIP

Van Cleef & Arpels, the Place Vendôme jeweller, has been making Rose de Noël novelties since the 1970s. The rose is a symbol of hope and happiness to come, expressed in the glossy, voluptuous form of the petals, hand-carved from mother of pearl to achieve maximum sheen and brightness.

Nestled at the centre of the flower is a cluster of diamonds, completing this charming composition that captures the attention to detail that the Maison lavishes on every one of its jewels. £16,900. Available HERE.

CHOPARD RED CARPET EARRINGS

Each year, the Swiss luxury jewellery and watch house presents its high jewellery collection at the Cannes Film Festival. Under the sunlight of the Côte d’Azur, stars and celebrities walk the red carpet wearing Chopard’s latest, one-of-a-kind creations.

The newest collection focuses on the seven arts, from music to architecture, expressed in jewels such as these feather-light earrings comprising over 30 carats of pink and purple sapphires, and diamonds. The stones set into the Fairmined-certified, white gold and titanium form catch the light from all angles. More about Chopard’s red carpet collection HERE.

CHANEL TWEED POUDRÉ BROOCH

Chanel weaves its magic with the Tweed de Chanel high jewellery collection launched in 2023. The Tweed Poudré brooch recreates the pattern of Mademoiselle Chanel’s beloved woollen fabric in dazzling diamonds, pink sapphires and gold.

The intertwined shapes of the gold structure perfectly capture the warp and weft of tweed adorned with powder-pink sapphires and diamonds. A further nod to Mademoiselle Chanel is evident in the camellia shape of the piece.  More about the Tweed de Chanel collection HERE.

DAMIANI MIMOSA NECKLACE

Living up to its name, this necklace is an explosion of colour that moves with the same grace as the branches of a blossom-laden Mimosa tree.

The Mimosa necklace is a masterpiece of Italian jewellery making that combines exquisite craftsmanship with sophisticated material selection. The bib-style choker creates a cascade effect using red and rose gold, diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and coral suspended on articulated links. Discover the full Daminai Mimosa collection HERE.

BULGARI HIGH JEWELLERY NECKLACE WITH RUBELLITES

In the 1950s, Bulgari changed the world of high jewellery with vivaciously coloured gemstones and a defiantly unconventional approach. Its daring and unexpected combinations live on in this high jewellery necklace set with a wonderful clash of deep-pink, 13.16-carat rubellite and mauve and rose-coloured tourmalines and spinels, along with a healthy dose of diamonds.

The medallion’s style is another Bulgari signature favoured by Elizabeth Taylor, who was often spotted wearing her hexagonal Bulgari sapphire sautoir given to her by Richard Burton in 1972. More about Bugari’s High Jewellery HERE.

Where others do spring cleaning, we should do spring shopping.
