Blue is almost as permanent a colour on the fashion palette as is black. The horological world is no different. We can’t have enough blue in watches: on dials, cases, bezels, straps… The new limited-edition Tudor Black Bay Chrono “Flamingo Blue” opts for a bold cyan – or turquoise if you prefer – hue for its dial, one that follows on the success of the version in pink, released in 2024.
A bright “flamingo blue” domed dial gives the watch a retro 1980s South Beach vibe that is very much on trend, a back to the future 1980s colour that is still significantly present in fashion in 2025. The sub-counters are in black as is the fixed bezel ring of the tachymetric scale in anodised aluminium. The contrast with the tropical blue of the dial is fresh and eye-catching, creating a striking presence on the wrist, and go like hand in glove with the snowflake hands and the white date window at 6 o’clock. A further nod to the ‘80s is the caseback, which is solid instead of sapphire crystal.
The new Tudor Black Bay Chrono “Flamingo Blue” is an invitation to be different.
Underneath the dial, this bold sport watch is powered by the Tudor calibre MT5813, a COSC certified self-winding column wheel construction chronograph movement with a silicon balance spring and a power reserve of 70 hours. It features a 12-hour totaliser, a 30-minute counter, and a date complication. The vertical clutch provides a smoother start and stop for the chronograph seconds over the horizontal clutch, which can cause a little jump when activated.
The traditional Tudor 41mm satin-brushed and polished steel case is integrated with a five-link bracelet of the same metal featuring Tudor’s “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp.
Overall, the Tudor Black Bay Chrono “Flamingo Blue” is a great example of how smart the company is with its releases. Tudor is showing outstanding ability to balance heritage design with contemporary flair. It’s a bold and fun interpretation of the Black Bay Chrono, perfect for those who want something a little different in a sport watch but with the robust performance and style that Tudor is known for.
