Richard Mille is back in 2026 with a technical tour de force allied to football (or soccer if you are on the other side of the Atlantic). The RM 41-01 Tourbillon Flyback Chronograph Soccer is one of the most technically advanced watches in the brand’s high-complication portfolio, designed to track the passage of a 90-minute football match and the goals scored. At its heart lies the calibre RM41-01, a manual-winding, highly skeletonised tourbillon flyback chronograph movement developed over five years and protected by a suite of technical patents.
The movement is primarily constructed from aerospace grade 5 titanium chosen for its high rigidity, resistance to corrosion and optimal weight-to-strength ratio. This material forms the skeletonised baseplate and bridges, which house approximately 650 individual components with 51 jewels, all meticulously finished with micro-blasting, hand-finished bevels and PVD treatments to improve durability and enhance the mechanical architecture.

The key innovation to the RM 41-01 is the patented double-column-wheel flyback chronograph. Unlike traditional single-column-wheel systems, in this one, one column wheel controls start/stop functions while the other manages flyback and reset, delivering exceptionally smooth, uniform pusher feedback and reducing wear on the chronograph train.
The movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour via a fast-rotating mainspring barrel, designed to improve torque delivery and consistency over time, offering a power reserve of approximately 70 hours when the chronograph is not in use. The balance wheel is Glucydur® with an Elinvar balance spring and features conventional shock protection enhancing stability under stress (which is not the same as the drawn score line near extra time).

Beyond the timekeeping and chronograph functions, the RM 41-01 introduces two new complications: first, a match-phase indicator at nine o’clock showing the first half, second half, and overtime periods of a match, which is based on the chronograph resets; the second is a mechanical goal mechanism that registers the score for both teams. The counters advance via dedicated pushers and track up to nine goals before returning to zero.
The watch’s tonneau-shaped case is offered in two limited editions of 30 pieces each: Red Carmin Basalt TPT® and Dark Blue Quartz TPT® with Carbon TPT® All materials have been developed in partnership with North Thin Ply Technology (NTPT) for exceptional resistance to chemicals, corrosion, UV exposure, and temperature variation. Micro-blasted titanium pushers with Carbon or Basalt TPT inserts and 5N gold guards complete the ergonomic, high-impact design.

The RM 41-01 showcases Richard Mille’s industry-leading prowess with the brand’s characteristic ultra-light, ultra-strong materials, coupled with a complex skeletonised hand-finished movement architecture, driven by a unique functional concept dedicated to a particular sport.
